Wireless communication, Internet connectivity and burgeoning e-commerce all find their origins in smaller, cheaper, ever more powerful semiconductor chips. With semiconductors as the foundation of the world's new economy, we are truly beginning the "Silicon Century." To a large degree, the semiconductor and related industries in Korea have been undergoing the process of globalization. To stay competitive, Korea semiconductor manufacturers must spend heavily on research and capital equipment, while seeking to compete globally in new markets.
Since the creation of the World Semiconductor Council(WSC) in 1997, KSIA, in cooperation with the semiconductor organizations around the world-including the SIA, EECA-ESIA, JEITA-JSIA and TSIA - has continued its efforts to accelerate the globalization of the semiconductor industry for the benefits of all concerned. KSIA also is involved in a variety of other industry issues and activities. These includes assisting in the development of semiconductor technology strategy, promoting environmental health and safety issues, collecting and disseminating industry statistics and publishing industry-oriented materials. Finally, KSIA is working to foster an economic and business climate conductive to both domestic and foreign companies in the highly competitive and capital-intensive semiconductor industry.
KSIA is committed to a future defined by globalization, connectivity and cooperation-that is, by mutually beneficial relationships among Korean and foreign companies in the semiconductor and related industries. KSIA will continue to make every effort to achieve this goal for the benefit both of its members and of the global semiconductor industry |
